  • Unless you're ready to sink your TV (and wallet) into one of LG's outstanding OLED televisions, the UB9800 Ultra HD 4K series of LED televisions is the company's best of the best for 2014. Three sizes are available now: a 65-inch for $4500, a 79-inch for $8,000, and a monstrous 84-inch for a monstrously-priced $15,000. Later this year, LG plans to issue an absolutely gargantuan 98-inch version for what we can only assume will be priced equivalent to that of a compact car.

  • After experiencing the AX900 in my testing lab for nearly a month, I am now certain Panasonic has something special going on. Still, I have concerns over how well this TV is equipped for the future, and whether it will remain relevant among a storm of changes surrounding the evolution of 4K UHD, including a sea of new TVs with expanded color and high dynamic range capabilities.

  • Enter Panasonic’s new TC-50CX600U 4K UHD TV, a budget set from the storied TV maker that’s available in a 50-inch model for just under $1000. That’s the kind of price you’d pay for a mid-tier 1080p HD TV just a year or two ago, and the CX600 comes loaded with Panasonic’s capable new Firefox smart interface.

So, is it time to trade in your HD TV for a model of the next era? The answer is more complicated than you might think.

  • Take a look at Panasonic's new AS530 LED HDTV, the first in the company's 2014 lineup. Part of Panasonic's new Life+Screen series, the lower-rung TV is packed with options, including a redesigned, customizable smart interface, Swipe and Share functionality to wirelessly throw your media on the screen from your smartphone, a 120Hz panel, and more. Check out the video for a hands-on tour.

This is a basic Intel Celeron N3050 budget laptop for $199. But this one brings with it a touch screen and 2-in-1 functionality - something lacking on other computers running with the same processor at the same price point.

It performs well for basic laptop tasks and about the same as its current crop of competitors.
